7 Tips for Finding a Great Vet for you Cat!
One of the first things you should do when you get your first cat is find yourself a good Vet. You never know when you might need them and it is always better to find them before you need them. There are several considerations when choosing your vet:
- Where is the Vet Based? Most importantly how quickly can you get to them in an emergency.
- Does He or She know cats? If you can find a vet that specailizes in working with cats or small animals. This way you know your vet knows yoru cats needs
- What are their operationg hours? This is particularly important if you work full time, you want to be sure your vet can accomodate this.
- Is there Emergency Care Available? emergancies dont always happen during office hours. Check to see if your vet offers emergency cover our of hours.
- Is the Office Clean and Cat-Friendly? Be sure the office has a clean appearance. Also, see how the staff interact with cats, and if they have a seperate area for cats and dogs.
- Is there Equipment up to Date? Check to see if they have the latest equipment. Also check to see if they have testing facilities or if any tests need to be sent away.
- How does the vet interact with you? Your cat? The vet may be a great clinician, but how is their bedside manner. You need to feel comfortable talkng and asking your vet questions.
